This fine weaving has its history beginning on the backstrap looms around 500 B.C.
The Zapotec Indians of Oaxaca,Mexico, known as the "people of clouds"raise sheep, hand card and spin their wool, dying the yarn using colorfast vegetable & aniline dyes.
Using time honoured traditions, they hand weave each rug creating a one of a kind piece with designs ranging from traditional to contemporary.
This 100% wool rug was hand woven on an upright pedal loom.
